Centenary University Education Students Earn State Recognition

Three students honored at the New Jersey Distinguished Clinical and Cooperating Teachers Awards Ceremony

Hackettstown, N.J., June 15, 2021—Three Centenary University students were recognized for excellence at the New Jersey Distinguished Clinical and Cooperating Teachers Awards Ceremony, which was held virtually on June 9. The awards are co-sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Education and the New Jersey Association of Colleges for Teacher Education.

The annual event lauds the top 60 clinical interns—three each from New Jersey’s educator preparation programs. Centenary University students honored this year are:

  • Laura Allen of Stanhope, an elementary education major with certifications in middle school mathematics and teacher of student with disabilities, who interned at Allamuchy Township School in Allamuchy, NJ
  • Ashley Ayers of Mine Hill, an elementary education major with certification in teacher of students with disabilities, who interned at Riverview Elementary School in Denville, NJ
  • Ana Sodi Maldonado of Hackettstown, a mathematics major with certification in teacher of students with disabilities, who interned at West Morris Central High School in Chester, NJ

Centenary University offers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in education at its campuses in Hackettstown and Parsippany, as well as at 75 professional development sites in northern New Jersey. More than 100 principals, superintendents, directors, or supervisors—including most of the principals in Warren County—have, or are currently earning, a Centenary University degree, providing outstanding networking opportunities for the University’s graduates.
