Lindsay O’Donnell has been named the Fall 2017 Equine Student of the Semester by the Centenary University Equine Studies Department. The award is given out each semester to a student who demonstrates exceptional abilities, interest, and/or compassion in horsemanship. Lindsay exemplifies the principles and standards of both Centenary University and what is expected in the equine industry, and has shown an exceptional work ethic and positive attitude around the horses, staff, and faculty at the Equestrian Center.

Lindsay is a very familiar face around the Equestrian Center; she has held positions working in the barn and as a veterinary work study student, and she can also be found in the classroom fulfilling requirements for the Equine Studies major.  In the barn, Lindsay is far more than an exemplary student employee.  She is regularly one of the first volunteers outside work hours to help peers find their way around the barn, staff with veterinary treatments, and faculty with research or projects.  Lindsay takes initiative and is proactive in her work, and it is all done with a big smile, booming laugh, and often a humorous personal story!  Her attitude and work ethic set an excellent example for her peers and are an inspiration to faculty and staff.

Lindsay came to Centenary from Garwood, NJ where she rode in hunter and jumper divisions as a junior.  At Centenary, she joined the Hunter/Jumper Team and showed Centenary horses in local USEF rated competitions.  Now a senior, she is an Equine Science concentration and plans to work in a veterinary setting upon graduation.  We greatly appreciate Lindsay’s hard work and dedication to the Equine Studies Department, and we know these qualities will bring her future success in the equine industry.
