Victor Marte ’19’s patriotism featured in cover story of newest Centenary University magazine.
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J., July 3, 2019—Victor Marte’s first stop after graduating from Centenary University last May was Fort Benning, Ga. A resident of Paterson, N.J., Marte is now serving his country as a member of the U.S. Army.
The patriotic forensic science major is one of seven students featured in the cover story of the most recent issue of the Centenarian, the University’s alumni magazine. Called “The Future U,” the story spotlights outstanding students and the futures they envision as a result of earning a Centenary University degree. The story is part of a wider campaign of the same name, which highlights Centenary’s career-focused educational approach.
When searching for a college, Marte had heard about Centenary’s strong science program from friends in his hometown. As an undergraduate, he was selected for a work-study position in the science labs in Trevorrow Hall on campus, gaining valuable professional experience. Marte is considering several long-term career options, all of which involve giving back to his country. Currently under consideration are remaining in the military as an officer, or doing forensic work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
As he takes the next step in his career, Marte is glad he chose Centenary and knows that the practical lab training he received will further his career: “I got a hands-on education on how labs are set up, especially how they are supposed to work in a professional setting.”
