The Learning Disability Teacher Consultant Endorsement is a 9-course, 27-credit sequence of courses designed to provide candidates with the ability to diagnose and correct learning disabilities. The program culminates with a 100-hour practicum in which candidates diagnose and create a remediation plan that supports the students in working toward their full potential.

In this program, you will learn to:

  • Develop Individual Education Plans based on data derived from formal and informal assessment.
  • Deliver services in a variety of environmental settings.
  • Evaluate current practices in the education of students with disabilities and learn to make recommendations for the development of the child’s educational plan from research-based methods and materials.
  • Choose appropriate tests and interpret results in order to meet the learning needs of individual learners.
  • Collaborate as a part of the Child Study Team to provide students with appropriate placements in the least restrictive environment.
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with other special educators, parents and families, students, and paraprofessionals.

The LDT-C can be taken as a separate program for those who already have a Master’s degree and a Teacher of Students with Disabilities Endorsement. This endorsement can also be incorporated into the M.A. in Special Education at Centenary.

As a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, you can make a significant difference in the lives of children with special needs.
