Biography

Professor Kristen McKitish is currently an Assistant Professor of Fashion and loves the ability to share her experience and knowledge with her students. She started her career at Centenary in 2002 in the Student Engagement and Services Department where she was the Director of Student Activities and eventually moved to the Department of First Year Programs. During her time as a staff member of the University, Professor McKitish was asked to become an adjunct professor in the Fashion Program where she began her career in the classroom teaching Fashion Buying. Professor McKitish was fortunate to then become a full time faculty member in 2010.

Prior to working in higher education, Professor McKitish was a “seasoned veteran” in the retail world. She has over 16 years of retail experience – 10 of which was spent at Bloomingdale’s Department Stores. While at Bloomingdale’s Professor McKitish held many positions ranging from Assistant Buyer, Regional Operations Coordinator and Assistant Store Manager of Store Operations and had the exciting opportunity to travel to every store in the country – multiple times. In addition, Professor McKitish was a recipient of the “Best of the Best” Award – the highest achievement awarded at Bloomingdale’s.

In 2009, during her time as an adjunct professor, Professor McKitish had the opportunity to teach a freshmen class where, under her leadership, started a chapter of Becca’s Closet. To date, Becca’s Closet has assisted more than 250 girls with their “dream dress” and afforded them the opportunity to attend their proms.

Professor McKitish holds a BS in Fashion Merchandising and a MA in Leadership and Public Administration.
