Arden Melick ’60 joined the Centenary University Board of Trustees in 1972, and is recognized for having been the longest serving member of the Board. From 2006 – 2016 Arden served as Board Chair. Notably, she was the first alumna to Chair and the first woman to hold that position. Arden’s other institutional involvement/accomplishments include: member, President’s Advisory Council (formerly the President’s Circle), Gold Dome Award 2006, Van Winkle Family Achievement Award 1986, and member, Whitney Society.

Arden was also a Legacy at Centenary University – her mother, Bernice Spies Davis, Class of ’31, was a member of the first graduating class of Centenary’s Junior College and was the National President of Centenary College’s Alumni Association. In memory of her mother, Arden established an endowed scholarship – the Arden Davis Melick ’60 and Bernice Spies Davis ’31 Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship recognizes students in the top 20% of their class, with preference given to a female New Jersey resident.

All gifts to Centenary University received in memory or Arden will support the Arden Davis Melick ’60 and Bernice Spies Davis ’31 Scholarship.
