In our Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration: Sports Management and Entertainment Concentration, you will learn about all the different aspects of the sports industry. Through internships, job shadowing, and other hands-on experiences, you will have the opportunity to experience firsthand what it is like to work in fields such as sales and marketing, operations, and sports information. The Sports Management curriculum covers all the foundational Business Administration courses in areas including accounting, marketing, and finance. Students advance into sports-related courses such as sports marketing, leadership in sports, sponsorship, business development, and professional selling in sports.
The Sports Management program emphasizes the importance of experiential learning. Classes have the opportunity to shadow professionals in the industry and run events on campus as well as in professional settings. An Event Management class from Centenary had the opportunity to run a concession stand during the Super Bowl at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
You will also have numerous opportunities to gain experience in different aspects of the sports industry through the student-run Sports Management Association (SMA). This group brings together students interested in the industry and helps connect them with opportunities to further develop as professionals and volunteer in the community.
Watching the Mets on television will never be the same for a number of Centenary University students after they had the unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at Citi Field to learn about how this multi-million dollar conglomerate operates.
You will find Centenary graduates working throughout the sports world, including senior-level positions in marketing, sales, and operations.
