Alpha Chi Sigma

Alpha Chi Sigma is a national honor society that recognizes college student athletes who earn a varsity letter in at least one sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA throughout their junior and senior years.

The goals of Chi Alpha Sigma are:

• To encourage and reward high academic scholarship of college athletes at four-year accredited colleges and universities.
• To recognize outstanding academic achievement by intercollegiate varsity letter winners.
• To encourage good citizenship, moral character, and friendship among the high academic achievers in college athletics.
• To recognize and honor the individual athlete, his/her team, sport, athletic department, and college or university.
• To mentor and provide leadership to other athletes.

Alpha Sigma Lambda

Alpha Sigma Lambda is a non-profit organization devoted to the advancement of scholarship, and recognition of nontraditional students pursuing higher education. The honor society and its member institutions recognize the special achievement of adult students who accomplish academic excellence while maintaining commitments to family and career.

Centenary University School of Professional Studies will invite the top 20% of highest GPA adult learners with a minimum GPA of 3.7 and at least 24 credits earned at Centenary University to membership in Alpha Sigma Lambda Delta Gamma Chapter during the next several weeks and will hold its first induction ceremony in April 2012.

Beta Beta Beta

Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) is a society for students, particularly undergraduates, dedicated to improving the understanding and appreciation of biological study and extending boundaries of human knowledge through scientific research. Since its founding in 1922, more than 200,000 persons have been accepted into lifetime membership, and more than 520 chapters have been established throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.

To be considered for TriBeta, undergraduate majors in biological science must:

• Complete at least one term of the second year of a four‐year curriculum or its equivalent; and,
• Complete at least three term courses in biological science, of which at least one is not an introductory course.

An average grade of B in those classes for those courses must be a B, and the student must be in good overall academic standing. Associate membership is available for students interested in the life sciences but who are not yet eligible for regular membership — such as Biology majors who do not have enough classes or do not meet the GPA, Biology or Environmental Science minors, and any student with a significant interest in biological science.

Chi Alpha Epsilon

Membership in Chi Alpha Epsilon is offered through local campus chapters to eligible students and alumni.  Students who hold a 3.0 cumulative G.P.A. for two consecutive full-time semesters, or 3 or 4 consecutive part-time semesters, and who were admitted to the college/university via developmental or higher education opportunity type programs, as well as students who participate in the Student Support Services and Federal Grant Programs are eligible for membership.

Kappa Mu Epsilon

KME is a specialized mathematics honor society, which was founded in 1931 to promote the interest of mathematics among undergraduate and graduate students. KME chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing that offer a strong mathematics major. KME members are selected from students of mathematics and other closely related fields who have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit, and have attained academic distinction.

Students from the Centenary University Delta Chapter have been involved in the following service and activities:

• Tutoring for the campus community
• Private, individual tutoring for students in the surrounding community, which has grown to include services for children at the Math Tutoring Center at Downtown Centenary
• Assisted in a campus and community-wide Stem Cell drive.
• Attended and presented research at undergraduate Mathematics conferences.

Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta is a professional society whose mission is to promote the study of History through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. Psi Chi

Purpose Statement

Psi Chi is an international academic honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.

Mission Statement

The mission of Psi Chi is to produce a well-educated, ethical, and socially responsible member committed to contributing to the science and profession of psychology and to society in general.
