Biography

Professor Clark’s practical equine experience encompasses having been a show and sale barn rider/trainer in the Netherlands for Alan Waldman, the assistant rider, trainer, and road manager for Andre Dignelli of Heritage Farm, and the assistant rider/trainer for one of the 2000 Olympic Equestrian Team competitors, Nona Garson. In addition to the training and riding responsibilities, she heavily focused on the overall care and health of these horses. As a junior, she worked with trainers Leslie Burr Howard, Linda Kossick Langmeier, Sarah Dalton Morris and Jenny Martin.

During her own intercollegiate riding career, as a senior at the University of Massachusetts, she received eighth place in the Cacchione Cup at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Nationals.

In 2002, she formed HCL Stables LLC as a riding and training facility based in Whitehouse Station, NJ.  At this facility, she trains beginners through advanced riders, in all aspects of hunters, jumpers, and equitation.  Her students compete in shows throughout the Northeast including finals in all three rings. While running her own business, Heather also coached the Lafayette IHSA team and was named Coach of the Year in 2005 for Zone 3 Region 4. Then in 2007, Heather joined Centenary’s faculty as an Instructor of Equine Studies, and co-coach of the IHSA hunt seat team. Since joining us at Centenary, Heather has helped coach the IHSA team to three national championship titles, a reserve champion title, and three Cacchione Cup champions.
